This teapot is hand-carved with the famous Edo-period ukiyo-e masterpiece “Kanbara: Night Snow.”

The quiet, snowy world depicted in the engraving harmonizes beautifully with the rich red clay body, greatly enhancing the artistic presence of the piece.

The teapot features an elevated foot (kodai-foot), which gives the entire form a refined and dignified character.

The engraving techniques of Kodo Yokoshiakawa are officially recognized as an Intangible Cultural Property of Tokoname City, and his skill and originality place him among the very finest teapot engravers in Japan.
