Vintage: Haisen-  Blue and White Wash Bowl White Rabbit

An exquisite and rare piece featuring a rabbit motif in deep blue and pure white.

At the old time of  banquet, Japanese has custom to exchange cups and drink sake. After drinking sake with a cup, wash it in the bowl and give it to other person.
The bowl is called Hai-sen. (Cup-wash)

This wash bowl can be used as decoration of tea room or you can wash cups or finger in the bowl. You can use it for tea-drain bowl as you like. 

Age: unknown (Nowadays the custom(cup wash) is not seen in Japan) 

Note: Since glaze is missing on the underside of this bowl partially, the rough surface might scratch the table. We recommend placing a mat underneath.
