”New-Style” Chinese Tea Experience

Hello, this is Shiha Tea Studio.

We visited China to explore the latest trends in Chinese tea culture and to experience the world of New-Style Chinese Tea.

In recent years, tea cafés—similar to Starbucks—have been rapidly increasing across China. These modern tea chains (New-Style Chinese Tea chains) focus on freshness, quality, and health, attracting many young adults who enjoy drinks made with health-conscious ingredients.

People in China today, including the younger generation, are highly aware of health and place great importance on building wellness through what they eat and drink.

You’ll find many creative and delicious options, such as tea with fruit juice or tea topped with cheese cream.
But for true tea lovers, who wish to savor the pure aroma and taste of tea, we recommend trying pure tea or tea lattes made with espresso-style brewed Chinese tea and milk.

We actually went around the city looking for teas with a truly strong tea presence—those that let you feel the depth and character of the leaf itself. To find them, we needed to visit different shops and taste the drinks in person. We discovered that teas brewed in an espresso-style method were especially delicious. Looking through the menus also helped us understand each shop’s signature drinks and unique features.

When visiting China, search for “New-Style tea shops” or “milk tea shops”—you may discover tea-forward drinks that highlight the character of tea.
Some shops emphasize wellness, while others focus on fruit.
