Satsuma Yunomi Tea Cup Handpaing Flower
Satsuma-yaki (Satsuma porcelain) is produced in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. During the Meiji period (1868-1912), many Satsuma-yaki pieces were exported to Europe. A large pair of vases with a lot of gilding was very popular in Europe.
Satsuma-yaki is characterized by its ivory-like color, delicate crazing and gold painting.
The body of this teacup is decorated with hand-painted flowers on the upper part and fine gilt cloisonne patterns on the lower part. The surface of the body also has delicate glaze penetrations.
The shape, design, color, and delicate painting of this Satsuma-yaki cup are in perfect harmony.
Note: Before use, please wet the cup with water. This will allow the cup to absorb some moisture, which helps prevent absorb tea color (from staining the cup) and able to enjoy natural color changes of the cup.
