This elegant and noble small Japanese teapot features a stunning black body with an oil drop pattern that shines delicately. The rich black color is achieved through a special reduction firing process using rice hulls in the kiln, giving it a unique smoked finish.

The lid knob is adorned with pure melted gold, adding a luxurious touch that beautifully contrasts with and enhances the deep black body.

The creation process is intricate: after the first firing, the teapot appears red. Then a glaze is applied, followed by a second firing. Next, the teapot undergoes reduction firing, which gives it its characteristic black smoked finish. Finally, pure gold is applied to the lid knob and the piece is fired once more.

Originally crafted from red clay, this teapot combines traditional craftsmanship with elegant design.
