Hello, We received feedback from a Chinese customer about a Japanese ceramic piece. This time, it is a piece of Suzu-yaki pottery from Ishikawa Prefecture, created by Takashi Shinohara and fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln.
こんにちは。中国のお客様から日本の器についての感想を頂きました。今回は、石川県の珠洲焼（すずやき）篠原敬さん（しのはらたかし）の薪窯で焼かれた器です。

In Japan, this type of vessel is traditionally used as a guinomi for sake, but for our overseas customers, we offer it as a tea cup. Below are comments from a customer who purchased the piece. They were very pleased and kindly shared their thoughts with us.
日本では、このような器はぐい吞みとしてお酒に使われますが、海外のお客様向けにお茶の器としてお届けしています。以下は器を購入したお客様のコメントです。とても気に入ってくださりメッセージを寄せてくれました。

器物养心。珠洲焼有一种一见如故的感觉。

“Vessels nurture the spirit. Suzu-yaki pottery carries a sense of timeless familiarity, like an old friend at first sight.”

訳：器は心を養います。珠洲焼は初めて会ったのに旧友のような感じがします。

We are delighted to see that the customer is truly enjoying and appreciating the piece. We also share the artist’s thoughts with our customers to help deepen their understanding of the work. The customer kindly shared their impressions of using the vessel. They made purchases on two separate occasions—previously and most recently—and even compared the two pieces.

深く味わっていただけてるご様子、うれしく思います。お客様には作家さんの考えをお伝して、より作品への理解をしていただけるようにしています。器を使った感想もいただきました。前回と今回二回に分けて購入いただき、その比較もされています。

株洲的杯子喝台湾乌龙茶很好。茶水更清甜。
我和这边的柴烧杯比较了一下，开始以为是心理作用(笑)后来确定不是，至少是我自己的感觉。

The Suzu cup is excellent for drinking Taiwanese oolong tea. It makes the tea taste clearer and sweeter.
I compared it with the local wood-fired cup. At first, I thought it might be a psychological effect (laughs), but later I realized it wasn’t—at least, that’s my own impression.

訳：珠洲焼の器で台湾のウーロン茶をいただくのが良いと思います。お茶の味がより清らかで甘くなります。中国の薪窯の器と比較しました。最初は心理的作用かと思いましたが (笑) 、そうではありませんでした。少なくとも私の感覚ではやはり違います。

这次刚到的杯子，感觉火气很足啊。要多用几次，茶水才把火气褪掉。先买的那个杯子就不用，拿到一用就比较温和。都很有个性。新到的杯子，可能是火候不同的关系吧。

The cup that just arrived this time feels very “fiery.” I need to use it several times before it mellows out. The cup I bought earlier doesn’t need this—once I use it, the tea is already gentler. Both cups have their own unique character. The new cup’s difference might be due to a variation in the firing process.

訳：今回購入した器は火の感触に満ちています。何度か使うことで茶に火の気を感じなくなってきました。以前買った器はその必要はありませんでした。比較すると温和でした。それぞれ個性がありますね。今回届いた器は窯の中の火（炎）の加減が異なるということかもしれません。

A customer living in Chengdu told us that when the air in the city becomes polluted, they go to the outskirts to enjoy fresh air and nature for the sake of their health. As they mentioned, they are personally sensitive, and this extends to how they experience and respond to pottery as well. It seems that those who spend more time in nature tend to choose vessels that allow them to feel that natural connection.

Below are some photos they kindly shared from their wellness trip, taken at Siguniang Mountain and Lugu Lake in Sichuan Province. The air looks incredibly clear and pure.
