Visit Shinohara Takashi Workshop : Suzuyaki Ceramic Artist – Kiln Rebuilding

At the end of July 2025, Shiha visited Mr. Shinohara’s workshop together with overseas fans of Suzu-yaki.
The kiln, which had been rebuilt after the great earthquake in January 2024, had collapsed again, and Mr. Shinohara began constructing a new kiln in 2025. We were able to observe the construction work and even experience laying a brick ourselves, one per person. Mr. Shinohara explained that he hopes to “create the future of Suzu-yaki together with many people.”
His workshop is surrounded by nature, a place where one can always face the natural world and calm the mind while focusing on the creation of his works.
We were warmly welcomed, and in the midst of nature, we had the chance to hear Mr. Shinohara’s thoughts and spend a slow, meaningful time in conversation.
